Events That Are Held Every Year In Peoria AZ

Most of the city of Peoria is in Maricopa County with a tiny portion jutting north into Yavapai County. In terms of land, Peoria is the sixth-largest city in the state of Arizona but it’s the ninth-largest in terms of population. This is one of the towns that were originally founded in the Salt River Valley. Today Peoria is a bustling city with nearly 200,000 inhabitants and lots of businesses and major corporations. Despite its rapid growth over the years, this beautiful city has not lost its cultural and historical heritage. The people who live and/or work in this city still host some fun cultural events to commemorate the past and celebrate the present. Here are some of the most fun events that are held every year in Peoria AZ.  

Dolly Sanchez Memorial Easter Egg Hunt

This is an annual event that is held every Saturday before Easter. This is a fun event for everyone and admission and parking are free as long as you donate canned food to the St. Mary’s/Westside Food Bank Alliance. The Dolly Sanchez Memorial Easter Egg Hunt features pony rides, face painting, train rides, all types of carnival games, candy hunts for all age groups, and many other fun activities. The annual event is usually held at the Peoria Sports Complex.

All-American Festival

This tradition has been going on for many decades in Peoria AZ. The city hosts a 4th of July All-American Festival every year at the Peoria Sports Complex. The annual event is meant to celebrate Independence Day. This is a fun event for the whole family with lots of fun activities including eating contests, games and water activities for young kids and young adults, music performances, beautiful fireworks, and lots of food for everyone. Do not miss the annual cornhole tournament.

Old World Oktoberfest 

Every year at the Centennial Plaza in Peoria AZ, people come together in the month of October to celebrate German culture and food. You will enjoy various types of German foods including Pretzels, brats, and various types of Beers. There is also live Festmusik from German. The event features lots of fun competitions and activities including rides and amusement parks for all people and many assorted products by vendors in the Plaza. 

Old Town Holiday Festival & Gingerbread House Competition

This is perhaps the most popular annual event in Peoria AZ. The Old Town Holiday Festival features myriad holiday activities including lots of snow fun, a rafters market, kid zone, a Santa visit, a choral contest, and lots of live entertainment. The event is held at Old Town Peoria, Peoria and Grand Avenues. Admission and parking are free but you can be charged for some activities and food and beverages. 

The annual Gingerbread House Competition takes place during this Holiday Festival. All ages are welcome to participate and first to third place winners for each division are awarded certificates. The Gingerbread houses are displayed during the Old Town Holiday Festival. This is a fun event for the whole family.
