Fountain Hills is a small town in Maricopa County in the state of Arizona with a rich and interesting history. Before the area was developed to become Fountain Hills, it was home to the Yavapai. You can even find petroglyphs near the Dixie Mine along the mountain. Fountain Hills AZ is named after its towering fountain, which is one of the tallest in the world. The town was developed by C. V. Wood, president of McCulloch Oil.  It was incorporated recently in 1989. This is just a brief history of the town but if you want to learn more, then you should make a point of visiting all the fun attractions and sites in the city. Visit The Fountain

The most famous attraction in Fountain Hills AZ is the 560-foot fountain in the town’s downtown center. Ranked as the fourth tallest fountain in the world, the geyser-like structure is a sight to behold. It was constructed in 1970 by Robert P. McCulloch at Fountain Park. The fountain shoots water for 10-15 minutes every hour from 9 am to 9 pm every day. 7,000 gallons of water are pumped through the fountain per minute and you can see the action from a long distance away. Fountain Park offers a nice public place for relaxing and meeting with friends. 

Tour The Fountain Hills Botanical Gardens

The Fountain Hills Botanical Gardens cover eight acres and feature almost 30 different varieties of plants unique to the Southwest of the United States. There are well-marked trails that you can use to tour the botanical gardens. There are also impressive rock formations showcased together with the plants. You will also get a lot of information regarding the plant species. At the end of the trail, there is a dam with plants that attract many beautiful insects, birds, and other desert species. The botanical gardens are located near Fountain Hills and Kingstree Boulevards.

Have Fun At The McDowell Mountain Regional Park

This public park covers a whopping 21,000 acres and it offers a wide range of outdoor recreational activities. There are over 50 miles of multi-use trails where you can go hiking, biking, or horseback riding. There are also three loop tracks designed for various difficulty levels and used by competition-level mountain bikers. There are 96 campsites and RV parking spots in the park with many amenities including picnic tables, public restrooms, showers, and fire rings. The park is open throughout the year and admission is free. 

Check Out The Fountain Hills Artists’ Gallery

This is a cooperative gallery located on East Avenue of the Fountains right across North Saguaro Boulevard. It sells and exhibits artwork mostly done by local Southwestern artists. The gallery showcases the artwork of more than 40 artists from the Fountain Hill AZ region in a variety of mixed media. There are many artifacts on display including oil paintings, sculptures, jewelry, fiber art, glass, ceramics, photography, acrylics, and many more. Many specialty works are exhibited periodically including silk scarves, gourd art, encaustics, and kaleidoscopes. The Fountain Hills Artists’ Gallery also offers art classes.
